The Brain

Built around an ESP32 dual core MCU, the brain of the device is more than capable of computing all the measurements from the sampled signals. Current design enables use of the same controller for single phase versions up to 3 phase + neutral, with full support for all the common power quality and energy metrics.
For communication with the outside world, the controller uses WiFi and ModBus over RS485.

The Sensor

Sensing the mains voltage and current consumption poses several challenges, from accuracy to safety. Our current design features a maximum of 100ksps with 2.5kV RMS isolation and power from the controller side. We are in the process of validating the measurements and safety of the analog module.

Frequently asked questions

  • When will the schematic and PCB designs become available?
    As soon as we test and validate the current design. We already have a couple of units made and are actively testing and verifying that it is behaving as intended. 
  • Can I use the design files to build my own device?
    Yes, full details on the licensing of the design files and firmware will be made available once the files are available.
  • Will the device be available for purchase already assembled?
    Yes, fully assembled and tested devices will be available for direct purchase.
  • What about the enclosure?
    There will be two versions of the enclosure, one that will be a bit more easier for people to source and one featuring a custom enclosure for easier mass production.
  • Will there be any support offered?
    Only for devices assembled by us. However, since this is an open source project, you will have full access to all the design files.
